Match Funding

You will hopefully be aware of the great work the PTA are doing to raise funds for our school. We wanted to take this opportunity to let you know about Match Funding and how a little bit of your time could increase the funds for the PTA.

Many companies throughout the UK offer employees the chance to boost their fundraising efforts by 'matching' the money they raise. The company provides additional funding to charitable organisations (like PTA groups) usually on a “£ for £” basis up to a maximum amount. Generally the employee must have been involved in the fundraising event as a volunteer. Companies may match the fundraising total for an event or for the stall that the employee is working on.

For example, a parent, who works for a company that offers match funding, volunteers to work on the raffle stall at the PTA Chrismas Fayre. The profit made by the stall is £300, so the parent's employer will then match this with a further £300.

Some companies pledge time and resources instead of money or are able to offer tangible services such as the opportunity to print posters, programmes etc.

Sadly, there isn’t a definitive list of companies that offer match funding but generally banks/building societies, insurance companies, utility providers, supermarkets, phone companies and car manufacturers are known historically to offer such schemes. On our website is a list of companies that we understand offer (or have previously offered) match funding (http://quaintonschoolpta.webs.com/mf-companies). Even if your employer is not listed they may still offer this scheme or something similar.

We would be grateful if you could investigate if your employer has a match funding scheme, or if they are willing to match fund any of our events. We would recommend that you check with your HR department first.

If you are able to help us in this way, please let the school office know and someone from the PTA will contact you to discuss your company’s scheme requirements.

Kind regards
